Priya & Justin – Engaged! – 11/6

Priya & Justin called me in late September looking to get some quick engagement photographs for their upcoming California wedding (lucky cats!) During an initial meeting over lunch in Chicago, I showed them a few engagement photographs I had created at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL., and they instantly fell in love with the location.

What did I fall in love with that evening? Priya’s hat. No joke – after the three of us created a few photos in some long grasses and sunlight, Priya changed into a summer dress and took out a matching hat. I really love how a hat can change the entire dynamic of a session. I first discovered this when my wife and I did a photo session together for our 1-year anniversary. It gives couples something to play around with – another distraction from knowing they’re in front of a camera, which makes for a more comfortable setting.

They had never been to the Arboretum, but they took the dive and the session ended up incredible (and kudos to Priya – she had just driven from central Illinois and still looked great for the session!)

They’re one of those couples who just disappear into each others love for one another – and it made for some beautiful, honest, and dramatic images for their save-the-dates.

Thanks so much, Priya & Justin!
